A social media post shared her disappointment: “Spent 2.5 hours crafting a stunning apple pie. This is what my husband and sons left me.” The lone piece of pie remaining was unacceptably tiny.

In the original Reddit post, it was disclosed that her eldest son consumed over half the pie himself and acknowledged his actions. Nonetheless, it doesn’t change the fact that her family failed to save a decent portion for her. Both her husband and other son had pie for breakfast, and honestly, the husband should have ensured she had some left.

Every slice of pie should be shared, especially with your mom

As is typical with posts on Reddit, discussions erupted about the authenticity of the situation. Did this really happen? Who can say. However, many commenters advised her to appreciate that her family enjoyed her cooking. This mindset is, in my opinion, truly unforgivable.

I recognize that preparing a meal is a significant way to express love. However, we must also ensure the cook feels valued and cared for in return. If someone went to the effort of baking an entire pie for me, I certainly wouldn’t consume it all while leaving them with just a sliver to clean up after. The problem lies in how society perceives such gestures of love, particularly from mothers, as though the woman should just be grateful for her family’s enjoyment.

Absolutely not. If I take the time to bake something for my family, I want to enjoy it with them. This pie is meant to be shared! Also, come on, make your sons breakfast instead of just slicing up a pie their mother made the night prior.

Whether real or fabricated, it’s clear that many online are responding to this scenario in the most disheartening way. While every pie is delicious, it’s even more enjoyable when shared with the one who made it.
