Greedfall 2: The Dying World, presently under development by Spiders Games and published by Nacon, is set to launch for PC players in Early Access on September 24, 2024. This prequel to the acclaimed 2019 game Greedfall unfolds prior to its storyline, placing players in the shoes of a native from Teer Fradee who has been kidnapped.
Players are challenged with aiding the protagonist in returning home, but this journey will be fraught with difficulties. A commonly asked question is whether Greedfall 2 will be available for the eighth generation of consoles. Unfortunately, the answer is no; Greedfall 2 will not be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
No PS4 and Xbox One Ports for Greedfall 2
Greedfall 2: The Dying World is scheduled for release on the PC platform via Steam. Confirmed future ports for the ninth generation of consoles include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This implies that earlier console iterations are highly unlikely to receive a port for Greedfall 2, primarily due to the outdated hardware and its subsequent limitations.
The original Greedfall launched on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in 2019 and recently marked its fifth anniversary on September 10, 2024. Enhanced versions were made available for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
Consequently, players on the previous generation consoles will need to upgrade to newer models or purchase a PC in order to experience Greedfall 2.
Greedfall 2: A Prequel to the Original
Occurring three years before the events of the first game, Greedfall 2 features a protagonist forcibly transported to the continent of Gacane, known within the game’s lore as the Old Continent. As a Teer Fradeean, the player’s mission is to navigate challenges and find their way back home. However, numerous adversaries will attempt to thwart this journey.
Players can explore various landmarks and locations, such as Olima, the City of Stars, and the mysterious shores of Uxantis. In addition to combat, players will have the opportunity to engage with other characters, form friendships, build relationships, and potentially even become rivals.
For those eager to dive into the game, the only current option for Greedfall 2 is to switch to one of the supported platforms.
