As Netflix gears up for the highly anticipated fourth season of The Witcher, the series is poised to encounter its most significant challenges yet. However, amidst these hurdles, there lies an exciting opportunity to introduce additional witchers alongside the show’s central character, Geralt of Rivia, portrayed by Liam Hemsworth. Following the success of the first season, the second season ignited controversy due to its deviations from the beloved source material, leading to mixed reactions from fans. While new witchers were introduced in season two, their roles were limited, minimizing their impact on the storyline.
The narrative of season three primarily revolved around the evolving family dynamic among Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan). This season marked a farewell to Henry Cavill, as he departed from the role of Geralt, paving the way for Hemsworth’s debut in season four, alongside a newly cast Vesemir. With the story now delving into some of the darkest arcs from the books, the forthcoming season promises a richer portrayal of the witcher universe, including the return of previously introduced witchers.
Geralt of Rivia
Geralt of Rivia Is Played By Liam Hemsworth
At the heart of The Witcher remains Geralt of Rivia, a character deeply woven into the fabric of the series. Season three was pivotal for Geralt’s character development, especially concerning his relationships with Yennefer and Ciri. This season solidified their bond as a family, a cherished aspect for fans of the books and video games alike. However, the Thanedd Coup forced a separation for their safety, leading Ciri to the Korath Desert while Yennefer sought refuge with surviving sorceresses, and Geralt recuperated in Brokilon following a battle with Vilgefortz.
As season three drew to a close, Geralt set out to rescue the kidnapped Ciri, embarking on a journey alongside Jaskier (Joey Batey) and Milva (Meng’er Zhang). Moving forward into seasons four and five, Geralt is poised to remain the focal point of the narrative, leaving fans curious about the potential outcomes for his relationships with Yennefer and Ciri.

Vesemir Was Played By Kim Bodnia In Season 2
A pivotal character in the expansive universe of Andrzej Sapkowski’s work, Vesemir serves as Geralt’s mentor and paternal figure. Trained at Kaer Morhen, Vesemir is the sole witcher to have survived the school’s destruction and has since become a guiding presence for Geralt and other young witchers like Remus, Lambert, and Eskel.
In the animated film “Nightmare of the Wolf,”viewers explore Vesemir’s origins, adding depth to his character. Season two marks his debut in The Witcher, where he encounters Geralt and Ciri upon their arrival at Kaer Morhen. Excited to learn of Ciri’s Elder Blood, Vesemir’s motivations quickly become embroiled in the impending conflict when a vial containing essential mutagen is stolen. How his storyline will evolve in season four remains a topic of speculation among fans.
Lambert
Lambert Is Played By Paul Bullion
Lambert is one of the children who escaped Kaer Morhen during the infamous attack and trained greatly under Vesemir. Known for his tough demeanor and sharp wit, he shares a brotherly bond with Geralt. Lambert also made his initial appearance in the second season, where his struggle with loss—particularly over Eskel’s death—led him to friction with Ciri. However, he ultimately became an ally during Ciri’s rigorous training sessions on the Pendulum, recognizing her bravery and skill.
After a series of harrowing events leading to witchers’ deaths under Ciri’s temporary control, Lambert teamed up with Coën to confront the threats haunting Kaer Morhen. His role in the upcoming seasons will be closely watched by fans eager for his development.

One of the youngest witchers, Coën’s backstory remains somewhat mysterious, yet he was notably trained by Vesemir alongside Lambert. Close friends with Lambert, they share a playful camaraderie, often engaging in mischief together. Coën’s admiration for Ciri blossomed during her training, inspiring him to assist her during her combat preparations.
In the tumultuous events that followed, he joined Lambert in pursuing Ciri after she lost control, seeking to confront the vengeful mother spirit unleashed in Kaer Morhen. If Lambert returns in season four, Coën’s character development is also anticipated to flourish, possibly revealing more of his backstory.
Eskel
Eskel Was Played By Basil Eidenbenz
Eskel was a close confidant of Geralt and trained under Vesemir. His storyline unfolded in season two, where his character was introduced following a harrowing battle with a leshy. Regrettably, Eskel’s characterization suffered from abrupt changes, resulting in an unexplained transformation and ultimately leading to his demise at Geralt’s hand when no cure could be found.
Despite his brief appearance, flashbacks could provide a chance for Eskel to resurface in season four, allowing the series to delve deeper into his relationship with Geralt and Vesemir, thereby honoring his legacy within the witcher’s lore.
