When will Wolf King be released on Netflix?

Currently, there is no definitive release date for the titles announced during Netflix’s Geeked Week 2024, but it has been confirmed that Wolf King is set to premiere in 2025. This coming-of-age epic fantasy adventure is entirely based on Curtis Jobling’s Wereworld, which follows the story of Drew Ferran, a sixteen-year-old boy who finds out he is the last of the werewolves.

According to the official synopsis of the original novel series:

Imagine a world ruled by Werelords – men and women who can shift at will into bears, lions, and serpents. When Drew suddenly discovers he’s not only a werewolf but the long-lost heir to the murdered Wolf King’s throne, he must use his wits and newfound powers to survive in a land suddenly full of enemies.

The synopsis continues:

Drew’s the only one who can unite the kingdom in a massive uprising against its tyrant ruler, Leopold the Lion. But the king is hot on Drew’s tail and won’t rest until he’s got the rebel Wolf’s head.

Jobling’s Wereworld series was first published by Penguin UK in January 2011 and was later shortlisted for the Waterstone’s Book Prize. The series consists of six books, culminating with War of the Werelords, which was published on October 3, 2013.

It wasn’t until June 2024 that Netflix announced the adaptation’s title, Wolf King, during its Next on Netflix: Animation presentation, confirming the release year as well. An official trailer was released on September 17, 2024, showcasing the main characters and generating excitement among fans of the novel.

While the cast list for the series has yet to be officially disclosed, some names have surfaced. Louise Landau, acclaimed for his role as Dauphin Francois in The Serpent Queen, will portray Trent Ferran, Drew’s adoptive brother and leader of the Leoran clan.

Nina Barker-Francis, recognized for her role as Chloe in The Jetty and Chill Spen in Moonhaven, will voice Whitley, a clever and cunning Werefox who becomes an ally to Drew on his journey.

Additionally, David Dawson, known for his performances as Robbie Carmen in The Town and Alfred in The Last Kingdom, will lend his voice to Count Vega, a manipulative and dangerous Wereshark who stands as an adversary to Drew.

Fans can look forward to more updates regarding the exact release date, complete cast list, episode count, and a comprehensive official trailer from Netflix in the near future.
