Overview of Upcoming Departures from Xbox Game Pass
- Seven titles are set to leave Xbox Game Pass later today, December 15, 2024.
- Notable among them is Forza Horizon 4, which will be eliminated due to expiring music and vehicle licenses and is expected to remain unavailable on the platform.
- Players can currently purchase Forza Horizon 4 at a substantial 80% discount on both Steam and the Xbox Store. The game’s online servers will still function after its delisting.
The Xbox Game Pass service will bid farewell to Rise of the Tomb Raider and six additional titles today, December 15, 2024. Noteworthy is the fact that Forza Horizon 4 is not merely being cycled out of the service but is facing permanent delisting.
Throughout 2024, Microsoft has consistently implemented a bi-weekly removal schedule for its content offerings on Xbox Game Pass, typically during the middle and end of each month. The most recent wave of departures occurred on November 30, when the platform lost The Walking Dead: The Final Season alongside eight other games.

Forza Horizon 4: A Permanent Departure from Xbox Game Pass
Although games developed by Microsoft typically remain on Xbox Game Pass, Forza Horizon 4 is an exception due to complications surrounding licensing agreements. The title will soon be delisted from all digital platforms because of expiring licenses for its music and vehicles, making its return highly unlikely.
Currently, both the Standard and Ultimate Editions of Forza Horizon 4 are available for purchase at an impressive 80% discount, priced at $11.99 and $19.99 respectively. Notably, the game’s online servers will remain operational after the game’s delisting, as confirmed by Playground Games, which has no plans to shut them down in the near future.
It’s important to note that the games leaving Xbox Game Pass on December 15 are not designed for quick completion. However, achievement hunters might want to tackle Amnesia: The Bunker before its removal from the service.
This reduction follows the December 2024 additions, resulting in no net increase in the library’s content for this month. Furthermore, additional removals are expected; another six titles are scheduled to exit on December 31. While Microsoft has announced initial departures, details regarding the second batch of December 2024 additions are yet to be released. It remains uncertain whether a secondary announcement will occur, especially as some games listed are aimed for January 2025.
