Zachary Levi Reaches New Low in Controversy

Zachary Levi has officially become one of the most disappointing figures in the celebrity world. His vocal support for Donald Trump’s presidency and his incessant promotion of Shazam have alienated many fans, leaving a trail of disappointment in his wake. Recently, he has stirred discontent among Broadway enthusiasts.

Having performed in several Broadway productions, Levi collaborated with acclaimed performer Gavin Creel in the musical She Loves Me. Tragically, Creel passed away not long ago after a battle with cancer, specifically metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma. Rather than honoring his friend’s legacy, Levi chose to share a conspiracy theory instead.

During an Instagram live session, Levi spoke about Creel’s death, suggesting a link between the vaccination drive against COVID-19 and Creel’s cancer diagnosis. Throughout the pandemic, the Broadway community strongly advocated for vaccinations to protect performers and audiences alike, ultimately allowing the revival of theater productions.

Using this narrative, Levi implied that Creel’s vaccination was a catalyst for his illness. “He was 48. One of the healthiest individuals I knew,” Levi remarked. Reflecting on their time in She Loves Me, he noted that Gavin would often return home to his dog after performances, potentially indicating a larger issue at hand.

Levi went further to assert that the pressure for vaccinations may have contributed to Creel’s cancer. “I genuinely believe that if COVID vaccinations had not been mandated, and theaters weren’t pushed aggressively…the blame lies solely with those at the top who understood the risks associated with these vaccines,” he stated.

He further claimed, “I absolutely believe that Gavin Creel would still be alive today.”

Backlash Against Levi

While some fans of Trump express their gratitude in the comments, the majority of social media users with any critical thought are outraged. They cannot believe Levi would exploit Creel’s death in this manner. Broadway actor Norbert Leo Butz also voiced his disappointment, directly addressing Levi.

“I’m so profoundly disappointed that you would politicize Gavin’s passing. I honestly tried to find merit in your argument, but I could only endure half of it before feeling utterly heartbroken. It’s disheartening to see you utilize his life and memory to support such a damaging narrative,” Butz wrote. His concerns are completely valid—this is truly appalling.

Individuals like Levi spreading conspiracy theories about vaccinations under the guise of tributing a friend is shameful. If he truly valued Creel, he wouldn’t manipulate his name in this way. Levi appears to be leveraging his considerable audience to promote dangerous ideas, perhaps because he finds himself at a career impasse.
