How To Verify Your Apple Product Warranty Quickly

Figured out how to check your Apple device warranty stuff, but sometimes it’s kinda confusing or just outright hard to find. Mostly because Apple loves moving things around in the Settings app or making you jump through hoops on their support site. No sweat — there are a few ways to do this that are pretty straightforward, even if your device isn’t right in front of you.

Whether you’re trying to figure out if your iPhone’s still covered or need to see if your Mac is good for repairs without paying out of pocket, this guide covers the essentials. It’ll walk you through checking directly on your device or via their website, so you’re not left guessing if that next repair or replacement is covered. Just keep in mind, sometimes the data in Settings isn’t totally up to date if your device has been a bit buggy — in that case, the website or serial number lookup is your best bet.

And because of course, Apple has to make it harder than necessary sometimes, these methods might not always work on the first try. But hey, it’s better than calling support and waiting forever, right? Here’s what to do.

How to Check the Warranty for Any Apple Product

Checking on Your iPhone or iPad

  • Go to Settings, then tap General, then About.
  • Scroll down a bit — here you’ll see info like serial number, model, and firmware. Usually, you’ll find the warranty info beneath these details or in a linked section. If not, look for a link or button that says “Check Warranty” or something similar, which might open a webpage or display more info right there.
  • If you see a “Coverage” or «Warranty» section, tap that. It should show how long your device is covered, what kind of coverage you’ve got (like hardware or technical support), and maybe even dates left. Sometimes you have to tap “See Details” or “More Info” to get the full scoop.

Pro tip: sometimes this info isn’t super clear or might say “not available, ” especially if your device was bought through a third-party reseller. That’s when the serial number lookup on Apple’s website becomes handy.

Checking on a Mac (iMac, MacBook, etc.)

  • Click the Apple logo in the top left corner, then hit About This Mac.
  • In the window that pops up, hit the Support tab. If you don’t see it directly, look for a link to “Check Warranty” online or “View Coverage” — usually it redirects or opens a webpage.
  • On the Apple website, it’ll ask for your serial number. After you input it, you get the full rundown of warranty, hardware coverage, and tech support status. Just watch out — the support pages might sometimes take a second or two to load or display info.

One thing: on some setups, the warranty info doesn’t immediately refresh in About This Mac, and you might need to log into your Apple ID or visit their official support page directly.

Checking on Your Apple Watch

  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap General, followed by About.
  • Look for the “Warranty” or “Coverage” section; it’ll tell you if your Apple Watch is still under warranty and the dates left.
  • Tap to see more details if needed. Sometimes, the details show up as a link or under a specific “Support” subsection.

This info can be handy if you’re trying to get warranty repairs or just want to know if Apple’s support can handle that cracked screen or battery issue. Worth noting: sometimes the support details are out of date if you haven’t synced recently, so check the serial number on Apple’s website for certainty.

Checking AirPods Warranty Status

  • Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, then tap Bluetooth.
  • Find your AirPods in the list, then tap that info icon (the little ‘i’ next to the device name).
  • Even if your AirPods aren’t connected at the moment, the info screen is usually accessible. Check for a warranty end date or “Coverage” info here.
  • If not clear, or if you want to double-check, go to Check Coverage and enter your serial number — you can find it inside the case or in Settings > Bluetooth.

Note: the serial number for AirPods is often inside the lid or on the charging case itself. Not so obvious, sometimes, but worth the effort.

Using Apple’s Website for Quick Serial Number Lookup

  • Head over to https://checkcoverage.apple.com.
  • Fill in your product’s serial number — found in Settings, About, or the device itself.
  • Click Continue. The site quickly spits out info on warranty, repairs, and support options. Because, of course, Apple has to hide some of this behind a URL instead of making it straightforward.

This method is often more reliable if the device settings don’t give you a clear answer or if you’ve had the device for a while without checking.
